Status System

From PsiWiki

The Development Team plans a rewrite of the status system.

Here is a short comment on how the new status system will work.

IIRC, it was something in these lines: the new status menu will initially only have 'Online', 'Offline', and 'Custom ...'. Custom then pops up a status set dialog (or something similar), where you can pick between 'online, away, xa, dnd, ...', and enter your status message. The X most recent custom statuses, optionally together with Y user-definable presets will show up in the toplevel menu, such that you can select them very fast.

Variations on this scheme are possible. Bottom line is that you have full control over your status menu: if you only use 'Online' and 'Offline', your status menu will only contain 'online' and 'offline'. If you use Away (without a status message), your status menu will also contain one 'Away' entry. If you have a select amount of status messages you use, they can be set very fast. If you never use FFC, DND, XA, Invisible, ... (like me, who needs FFC and XA anyway?), they won't show up in your status menu. If you do, they will. And so on.

Besides this, other status menus and buttons will probably also emerge and be added to the list of toolbars. So, if you don't want the new status menu you can always have the old status menu.
